By His stripes

I saw a quilt on Facebook that inspired me. I had things in my scrap bin and fabric tubs they could make a quilt...and in my head they came together. There is no pattern followed but I can make a tutorial if you’d like. Here’s the quilt I’m calling, “By His stripes”.

Slanty Stars

Ok, I remembered this concept but couldn’t find any pics with reference to the original title or pattern. So, I’ll share it here, as I created it.

Sew three 2.5”x6.5” strips together.

Next, cut 5x3.5” rectangles if accent fabric, and slice once on the diagonal. Set them on the 3 strip patch like so
:

I believe it was 2 3/4” in on the bottom. I used a tiny piece of tape on my small cutting board so I could do the same all the time. See 1/4” into the yellow.

Cut along the right edge of the yellow triangle. Flip and iron.

Now trim to a 6.5” square. Place four together and sew into a block! Trim edges to make square. Sew together with others to make your quilt! I did 5x7 blocks, with two non-star blocks at the edge, alternating which side. This set them diagonally to create movement but isn’t necessary. My completed quilt is 63x80.

Challenge quilt

So at the 2017 retreat we were challenged to take home a panel of fabric and bring it back as a completed project for a contest. Most of the year this panel sack pack to still with the 2017 retreat stuff and I didn’t look for it and I didn’t know what I was going to do with it. Sometime in December or January I decided what I was going to do with it and pulled it out and put it with some string blocks I had started and began to make a quilt! I had to request another panel and everything was down to the wire and I completed it at 6:30 PM on Tuesday and I was supposed to leave on Wednesday at 8 AM. It still wasn’t completed because I went to my friends house and washed it and found that there were three more arcs to quilt! Lol! So it was really finished like 11 PM Tuesday night! Talk about down to the wire! 😜 Here’s

The panel, and the quilt!

Mystery quilt

Went to quilting retreat In Phoenix Arizona with the “Valley of the Sun” quilters where I try to go every year :-) this year we had a mystery quilt and I just completed it. Laid it out on the floor. This picture makes it look like it’s very uneven on the bottom but I promise it’s pretty good! Was fun and scrappy—just my style!

Pink and yellow

So here while back I got some flowers and they were so pretty and cheerful. They made me happy just at a glance! I was moved to run and pull some fabrics and start a quilt (which I’m just pulling back out now!). Here are the flowers (from September) and the mock-ups of the blocks! What do u think?

Block Lotto...??

First, it's been forever since I've put stuff up on this board. I was trying to put all my quilts in one place, and I fell down on the job! I'll put more old quilts later, but let's keep it current!

So my friends posted a block for a block lotto for retreat.  I decided to make 20 (max #) for more chances...I never win these things anyway! It was a disappearing 4. A pattern I've always admired and have pinned multiple times.

DANG, this is the most frog stitching, most piddly block ever! I may be exaggerating with the word "most" but I sure did frog stitch A LOT!!! (rip it! rip it! rip it!)

Here are the finished products (and let me say that after all that work, I'm not sure I want to trade them...they look so pretty....):
