Yellow Brick Road Variation

 

So I decided to do something to use up some of the fabric I had, and make a cheerful spring quilt. I started with the Yellow Brick Road pattern, but found I didn't have big enough fabric pieces sometimes, so I pieced some extras...it was scrappy style :D Hope you enjoy!

 When I painted my LR, I decided I needed a new throw quilt to help tie together the space. Made in blues, greens, purples, and some gray batiks.  

Disappearing nine

Thought it would be fun to get some quick success under my belt as I started sewing in my newly renovated sewing room. Decided to do this pattern called disappearing nines: 
Of course the math of the charm pack didn’t work perfectly so I altered the corners. 😁

Harlequin Quilt

I made this quilt a couple years ago, but donated it to the charity pile at retreat. Team effort: one gal quilted it and one gal bound it. So, here's how nice it turned out--wow!

9-patch/snowball

So I wanted something easy to do, and pulled out some old 9 patches from a long ago swap. I thought I had plenty to make this throw. Not so much. About 2/3 are new, and you can see some fabrics where someone in the swap didn’t quite follow the guidelines (it’s not snow.) This was to be a nap throw. Seeing it on the bed, it’s so cheery looking, I’m thinking of increasing it to queen. What do you think?

All the minis

To make my sewing room look just how I wanted it, I made several minis to create a border like around the top of my room.

Over Christmas break I decided it was time to redo my sewing room. It had been the ugly grey I bought it with and accessories left over from this room: 
It was tome for something new and fresh, creating an oasis of creativity. Here’s what I made:

Mini!

I decided to make some minis to decorate my new sewing room wall (as in newly painted and organized). Here’s the first: 

Bright HST quilt

I started this quilt years and years ago! This is a throw size (76.5x56), cheerful and bright :)

Blue ridge beauty

So I never do a quilt according to a pattern. I generally like to change things up or create my own pattern. This quilt, though, has been on my to-do list forever, as is. It took months to do since I do a bit at a time, but here it is...Bonnie Hunter’s Blue Ridge Beauty:

Queen purple

Made this queen sized quilt for my sister’s Christmas present. Not quilted yet, so I’ll have to post again later. Pattern is called “Toe the lime”. 

By His stripes

 I saw a quilt on Facebook that inspired me. I had things in my scrap bin and fabric tubs they could make a quilt...and in my head they came together. There is no pattern followed but I can make a tutorial if you’d like. Here’s the quilt I’m calling, “By His stripes”. 

Slanty Stars

Ok, I remembered this concept but couldn’t find any pics with reference to the original title or pattern. So, I’ll share it here, as I created it.

Sew three 2.5”x6.5” strips together.





























Next, cut 5x3.5” rectangles if accent fabric, and slice once on the diagonal. Set them on the 3 strip patch like so
:

I believe it was 2 3/4” in on the bottom. I used a tiny piece of tape on my small cutting board so I could do the same all the time. See 1/4” into the yellow.


Cut along the right edge of the yellow triangle. Flip and iron.


Now trim to a 6.5” square. Place four together and sew into a block! Trim edges to make square. Sew together with others to make your quilt! I did 5x7 blocks, with two non-star blocks at the edge, alternating which side. This set them diagonally to create movement but isn’t necessary. My completed quilt is 63x80.

Pastel chains

For the longest time, I’ve wanted to make a quilt from this gorgeous cool tone FQ collection I found. These are all my favorite colors! So, I give you my completed top! (One overall picTwo border pics so you can see the ombré effect!

Batik Daisy Wallhanging

Needed something new for my wall so I made this during the last week. :D 

Yay! Mystery quilted!

I just received my quilt finished from the quilter and I couldn’t wait to share it with you! No room in my house to photo right now so I took it outside. Sorry for the shadow.
